About Jordan & Her Work at The Beautiful Co.
Five things to know about Jordan:
1) She has four fur babies, Bubba (an old english bulldog), Harry (a sheepadoodle), and Sugar & Pepper (sugargliders).
2) In 2014, she married a man who loves to cook (therefore, she'll be humungous one day).
3) Besides her husband and fur babies, her two favorite things in life are coffee and hotel breakfast....like really, it's a problem.
4) During the years 2007-2014, she attended North Greenville University for a business degree but spent much of her time giving $5 haircuts in the laundry room on campus.
5) If given the choice to keep only 3 possessions, she would hold on to her iphone, wedding ring, and limited edition Urban Decay lipliner in the shade "Wallflower" (what? they quit making it in 2014!).
Five Things to Know about Jordan's Work
1) It's her PASSION.
I can remember it so clearly — running downstairs as fast as my 3 year old legs would carry me that brisk Christmas morning, ripping open my new gift — a Fischer Price plastic lipstick — and applying the toy so meticulously (as if it would leave a stain on my tiny lips).
My perplexed parents stared in wonder, trying their best to figure out how i ever came to love "all things beauty" so fervently. You see, my mom was a self-proclaimed tomboy. She always chose jeans over dresses, boots over heals, chapstick over lipstick. I didn’t grow up with a mother who was concerned with beautification.
My love for the beauty industry was innate from the very beginning. It is that drive and passion for what I do that pushes me everyday to delivery the very best hair and makeup services I can!
I now have a private studio inside Mia Alexander Salon. During normal business hours, I perform cuts for both men and women, color (all over, highlights, lowlights, etc.), facial waxing, and general makeup application.
Also, when available, I provide freelance hair and makeup services!
2) Bridal Work is her favorite!
Oh. my. goodness. I LOVE working with brides!! It is without a doubt my favorite part of the biz. Brides are welcome to come to my studio on their big day, or I can bring my station to them! I can accommodate large wedding parties, so bring me your bridesmaids, grooms, groomsmen, mothers, mother-in-laws, sisters, cousins, grandmothers, anyone! We’ll have a party!
I’ve definitely spent a hour or twelve on Pinterest, gaining updo inspiration! I always encourage brides and bridesmaids to bring pictures to their appointments so we can find the PERFECT updo for them!
I specialize in airbrush makeup — a flawless foundation application method that gives an amazing finish. The makeup is sweat and water resistant, so if you feel like you may cry on the big day, never fear, you’ve got airbrush! The makeup also reflects light in a way that makes photo touchups virtually unnecessary! It’s a miracle, seriously!
Of course, you’ve probably already guessed that I’m a makeup junkie…I use only brands that work, such as MAC, Urban Decay, Tarte, Smashbox, and Anastasia Beverley Hills.
So many of my brides are timid when it comes to choosing their makeup look for their wedding day…I mean, they want to look timeless and perfect, RIGHT? Who can blame them?! That’s why I offer consultations that allow us to “play” with different looks, whether that be natural, smokey, retro, or classic!
Often the first thing a bride says when brainstorming makeup ideas is, “Well, I’m not sure. I just don’t wear a lot of makeup usually…I just want to look like myself.” Well girl, I don’t blame you! You don’t want your fiance standing down the aisle wondering, “Who’s that chick walking towards me?”I view makeup as a way to ACCENTUATE a gal’s positive qualities, not cover up “God’s mistakes.” Brides, I promise to make you look spectacular on your wedding day, not like a drag queen. ; )
3) She is a Certified Color Specialist
In early 2013, I acquired my Color Specialist licensure. When it comes to color, nothing improves your skill and ability than just getting in there and DOING IT!
Through trial and error, I have learned how to implement the newest techniques like ombre, balayage, and hair painting, among others. I try my very hardest to stay up to date and educated on industry trends. In early 2014, I attended an intensive Scruple’s Self Tour in color class where I learned the importance of skin tone in color selection and face shape in color placement.
Believe me when I say, “If I’m not doing hair, I’m researching how OTHERS are doing hair!”
4) Fashion and Editorial work is the cherry on top
Some of my work has also been featured in Dark Beauty Magazine and several issues of Supermodel’s Unlimited Magazine. (In one of those shoots, I got to do the hair and makeup for America’s Next Top Model All-Stars Laura Kirkpatrick and Alexandria Everett!)
5) She can be contacted for any Film and Print Projects
I have worked on several short films such as Zombie College, Any Given Tuesday, No. 14, and Gotham Fightclub.
I have the honor of working with so many talented photographers and models in the Greenville area on both high fashion and conceptual shoots. (If YOU are a model or photographer, feel free to email me with business inquiries at firstname.lastname@example.org)
